I am a start up company and I was told that their policy is all "start up" company's must pay the entire fee upfront... I tried to negotiate payments (In good faith I pay 33% down, you get started, once you are 66% done you receive another 33% payment, when the project is 100% complete, We review, I am satisfied and make final 34% payment and you deliver finished project... The answer to that was a flat NO! Now I have owned and operated a number of successful small businesses, and dealt with hundreds of contractors... What I proposed is standard, and how most repeatable people and company's conduct business... It keeps everyone safe. In my novice years as a business man I paid one contractor all his money up front and learned a valuable lesson... I've had others try, and after monitoring them from afar I was glad I said no to their service.. My experience has been any contractor who requires 100% of their fee up front is not a contractor I want to do business with...
