I feel ripped off, shocked, and incredibly disappointed. I have been debating for many weeks whether to write this, and I think it's important for people to know what they're getting into. I was able to hire Talyn thanks to a grant from the state of MA. I was given $2,500 to hire someone to help me with branding and social media strategy. I was to receive a document with custom researched hash-tags, various brand info, 40 "custom" templates for posting, and a few other nice-to-haves. Upon completion, I got on a call with her and my social media guy to discuss. Since I have known Talyn for a quite a while before working with her, I was very confident in the quality of her work, and was impressed with materials and examples she had provided about other works. So, needless to say, I quickly reviewed the document, and glanced at the templates on Canva. I said "yes, yes, great." and didn't look closely as I had another client I needed to get to and wanted to wrap up quickly. That's my fault. I should have looked closer. The 40 templates were incredibly poor quality, non consistent, were not on brand, and looked way too generic. Additionally, the hash tag list she shared with me on google drive had Social Hustlr listed as the owner. This is a site that lets you get "hashtag research" in a very very short amount of time, and spits out a bunch of hashtags that might be relevant to your business or industry but are not actually tailored to you. The issue is that I didn't notice these things until a few months after we wrapped these things up, because that was when I finally went on to use them. That's when I noticed things were not in good shape. So naturally, I reached out to Talyn to have her review with me. Not only was she hard to reach, I had to wait several weeks before meeting with her. Good that she's busy, but this was time sensitive, and she didn't seem remotely inclined to care. After meeting with her, she starts telling me that I missed my opportunity for any changes, and that it had "already closed". She acknowledged that had I said something sooner, she would have taken care of it. So I asked her why it makes a difference. If she had offered the time to me, and I had not used it, what does it matter? She then proceeded to come up with 3-4 different bogus excuses to explain it. One of them was "oh, I'm so busy, I'm booking out until next year." So I said no problem! Let's book something for January. All of a sudden, the scheduling was no longer the issue. I used to work in sales. Overcoming objections is a strong suit of mine. And her objections and reasoning for why it couldn't been done were incredibly thinly veiled attempts at getting me to spend more money. Because I then asked here "What do you suggest we do?". Her response? Schedule a power hour, and we'll get it taken care of!" Okay, that's maybe reasonable, I though. How much does it cost? $150? $200?.... nope! $500!! For an hour working on things that shouldn't even be an issue to begin with. That, and I considered us friendly as we were in the same networking group. I couldn't help but laugh out loud. It was outrageous. And it turns out that I'm not alone in feeling this way, but perhaps the first to take the time to write a review on google about it. Obviously, I didn't take her up on it. I make good money in my own business, but for $500, or $2500, I'm busting my you-know-what. Not spending a few hours using generic recycled stuff, and then ripping off the people in my networking group and acting like that's okay. Rating 2 stars because at least there were a few usable items in the document that she gave me.
